Borja Valero would happily take a wage cut to secure his return to Fiorentina, according to La Repubblica.

The Viola are keen to resign the midfielder but will not move for him until the end of the transfer window, when Inter have lowered their asking price.

Reports elsewhere have suggested Valero would want more money than Fiorentina are willing to offer, with the Spaniard currently earning €3 million in Milan.

However, the paper this morning assured that was not the case, which would significantly increase the chances of a deal going through.

Fiorentina are concentrated on other players at the moment and are following RB Leipzig’s Diego Demme.

Vincenzo Montella seems eager to bring Valero back to the club, though, having already signed him once from Villarreal in 2012.

Valero made 38 appearances in all competitions for Inter last season, providing one assist in a 3-0 win against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Supporters frequently criticised the 34-year-old for playing too slowly, but Luciano Spalletti always kept faith with him in midfield.
