Former Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan, currently on loan with Cagliari, spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia following the Rossoblu’s 2-0 victory over SPAL in the Serie A.

“The goal has nothing to do with my position, the ball arrived, I shot without thinking about it and it went better than I thought.”

He described his mood playing for the Sardinian side.

“No, I’m quite happy always, I’m someone who enjoys life every day. I have happiness inside and in Cagliari there is great enthusiasm. We’re having a good season; we’re doing well and we’re doing our best with this enthusiasm.”

The 31-year-old Belgian touched on who his goal was dedicated to.

“I dedicated it to my wife because it’s a special moment. And that’s it.”

The former Roma and Inter midfielder also discussed how it felt to return to Cagliari after five years away.

“It was like coming home for me. They always recognised what I did on the field. They welcomed me as if I had never left. We didn’t get off to a great start because we were all new, we’re having fun and sweating every moment. It’s the centenary championship and the club wants to do important things. We want to repay the trust.”

Finally, Nainggolan refused to discuss whether European qualification for the Sardinian side would see him sign permanently following the expiry of his loan deal.

“You don’t have to talk to me about that. I am here and I do everything with great enthusiasm. I want to do something important with Cagliari, you have to see how it ends this year. I’ve made a lot of choices and to make a choice like this year’s why not? It depends on the investments the president wants to make, then he will decide.”
