Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa’s representatives have put a hold on any talks relating to the player’s future until the end of the Brazilian league season according to Esporte Interativo.

This decision comes after the player himself asked for talks to be postponed to enable him to focus on the big games that Flamengo have coming up, including the Copa Libertadores final against River Plate in little over two weeks time.

Gabigol has been in sensational form since rocking up at Flamengo on loan in January from Inter scoring 36 goals in 50 appearances for the club with him currently the top scorer in both the league and in the aforementioned Copa Libertadores with 20 and seven goals goals coming in those competitions respectively.

Flamengo have a long-standing desire to tie the 23-year-old forward down on a permanent basis and have already sent an offer to Inter, who Gabigol joined for €30 million back in 2016 from Santos.
