Milan Skriniar has shared his thoughts ahead of Slovakia’s upcoming EURO 2020 qualifier against Croatia as well as discussing how Inter’s season has went.

“We are looking forward. Many do not trust us after the first meeting between the sides. We will do everything possible to make the game completely different and win. We must improve on everything,” he said in an interview with Slovakian news outlet Sport.

“Let’s build on what we did in the match against Wales, in which we played good but we have to do even better. Croatia conceded six to Spain after having only just played in the World Cup final and we must not think too much into that.

“They have great players who can do great things. We need to focus on ourselves and avoid drops in concentration.  The first game showed us what they are capable of. We must do our best and believe in our abilities.”

Next the 24-year-old spoke on how he has fared with the three man defence system at Inter.

“It was difficult to get used to. It was a big change but I have no problem with having to switch to a three man defensive line now. Our coach wants us to be aggressive and in many situations I have to deal with things that four man defences are responsible for. The coach wants us to keep pressure on the opponent in order for them to not crush us. I’m getting used to it.”

He concluded by speaking on Inter’s season so far.

“We are doing quite well in the league and we are very satisfied whilst in the Champions League we are a little less so. Everyone works to achieve success. We need to think one game after another but we have a team that can succeed. There is still a lot to do and we need to focus on each match as it comes. We must avoid declines.

“Conte has won something where he has went. He wants to convey his winning mentality at Inter, something that has been missing for years. It’s changing now. I believe that this will continue in the League and in the Champions League better than ever.”
