Inter are taking the first steps towards offering a new contract to star striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker is having an incredible second season with the Milanese club, under the guidance of coach Antonio Conte. The player has scored 15 goals and provided three assists in his 24 appearances so far this season, playing a total of 1833 minutes in that time.

Lautaro’s current contract expires with the club in 2023, the report highlights, and Barcelona’s interest isn’t worrying Inter. The club are set to offer him a new contract at the end of the season, giving them an opportunity to raise his wages and either raise or remove his release clause. Lautaro himself has stated that he is happy at Inter. He’s formed a strong partnership with former Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku.
