Monaco have dropped their interest in signing Napoli attacker Dries Mertens according to a report from French news outlet Le10Sport.com.

Reports in recent days have suggested that Monaco were ready to make a significant offer to Mertens, whose contract with Napoli is due to expire at the end of the season, but this report states that this will not happen and they are no longer interested in signing him.

The report goes on to state that both Inter and Chelsea’s have an interest in signing the Belgian international, who has represented Napoli since 2013.

The 32-year-old, who is capable of playing at striker or out on the wing, has made 304 appearances for the Stadio San Paolo club and he is on the verge of becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer.

This season the former PSV Eindhoven player has made 22 appearances across all competitions. In 1425 minutes on the park, he has scored nine goals and provided four assists.
