Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that Andrea Ranocchia and Milan Skriniar will be staying whilst refusing to rule out a possible departure for Radja Nainggolan ahead of Inter’s match away to Benevento which is due to get underway just shortly.

“Our squad is the result of a job well done. Last year we had a little too many injuries in the middle of the pitch, we understood this and worked to complete the squad,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia moments ago before the game at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito between the Stregoni and Nerazzurri gets underway.

He then went on to speak about Radja Nainggolan amid ongoing media speculation linking him with a return to Cagliari.

“There have not been steps forward. We know that Cagliari make it clear, directly and indirectly, at every opportunity that they want to sign him.

“Radja is still our player, he has a two year contract. If he stays here he will be part of our midfield, otherwise we will meet and talk about the future.”

The former Spezia executive, who has been in his current role with Inter since 2014, proceeded to discuss Andrea Ranocchia’s future with the Nerazzurri.

“Andrea is staying here. We had some discussions with Genoa, but then evaluated along with the coach that Andrea can still be of use both on the pitch and as a figure in the locker room.

“He has this real sense of belonging to Inter and embraces the values of the club, so he is someone we want to keep around.”

Ausilio then went on to speak about the transfer market and the future of first Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and then Milan Skriniar.

“The transfer market is still open for a few more days. We’ve brought in those we want and in fact have a few in excess.

“I said the other day there has been contact for Skriniar, we did not receive any particularly impressive offers and he is not for sale.

In conclusion he spoke on Inter being named as one of the favourites to win the Serie A title this season.

“We try not to listen. We know who the favorites are. There is someone who has won nine league titles in a row. We want to grow, improve and consolidate.

“We want to be stronger than last year, when we finished second and runners up in the Europa League final. Last year we did something wrong, in midfield we were had to deal with an emergency situation for too long. We have worked to facilitate Conte’s work.”

Benevento versus Inter is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 local time and it will be both sides second matches of the recently started 2020/21 season. The last time the sides met, back in January 2019 in the Coppa Italia, Inter ran out comfortable 6-2 winners.
