Inter wing-back Danilo D’Ambrosio has insisted that he and his Nerazzurri teammates must not understimate this evening’s opponents Benevento.

“We always try to do our best. We know that Benevento comes into this match after winning Serie B and made a very good debut against Sampdoria, we must not underestimate them,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster, a short time ago prior to kick off at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito.

He was then spoke on the growth of both clubs in the time since their last meeting between eachother, which came in the Coppa Italia back in January 2019, a match Inter won 6-2.

“Inter have changed and Benevento have changed. The two clubs have always been growing but we think about our growth, what we want and what we want to achieve.”

The versatile Italian, who is in the starting line-up, was then asked if Inter need to work on having balance to their play.

“As the coach said, we need more balance, both the attacking and defending phases depend on all players. We need to adjust in the non-possession phase.”

In a follow up interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, D’Ambrosio added: “This match with Benevento, like all matches, can hide pitfalls.

“We have to be good at channeling the match in the right way. It might seem simple on paper, but we know that it is not. It is up to us to show that even today we deserve to win.”

D’Ambrosio joined Inter back in January 2014 and since his arrival at the club the 32-year-old has made 210 appearances, in which he has scored 18 goals and provided 17 assists.

Benevento versus Inter is due to kick off at 18:00 local time and the match will see the sides meet for the fourth time in history. Inter have won all of the three previous meetings between the sides.
