Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin suggested that this Inter squad “lack identity” when speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia this morning, analysing the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 derby loss to rivals AC Milan yesterday.

“From Appiano Gentile they tell me that the atmosphere is calm, they train with intensity and there are smiles. What is missing is a bit of identity, which I saw in AC Milan instead.

“I must say that Pioli beat the master Conte yesterday. It was a perfect derby for Milan, who I think are of a lower category than the Nerazzurri.”

He highlighted how the Rossoneri stayed calm after Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for Antonio Conte’s squad later on in the first half.

“But the Rossoneri lost their fear. After Lukaku’s goal, the Rossoneri didn’t lose heart. From Conte I expect him to give something more when the match gets complicated.

“He should think of some ideas to beat the opponents.”

Finally, Biasin spoke about how the Nerazzurri still have every chance to win the league title this season, due to their squad depth.

“If you came second last year, it is no mystery that this year you want to try to win the Scudetto. I believe that Inter have every chance. This is clearly the most complete team in Serie A.”

Inter are currently in sixth place after four games, disappointing considering their initially exciting start to the campaign.

The Nerazzurri beat Fiorentina 4-3 in a thrilling comeback and emphatically bested Benevento 5-2, before suffering a 1-1 draw with Lazio before the international break.

Inter lost six players to positive Covid-19 diagnoses, with starting defenders Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni among those unavailable for the clash.

The 21-year-old Italian has since tested negative for the contagion.
