Inter defender Stefan de Vrij will start for the Netherlands in their Nations League clash against Bosnia tonight, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

The report details how the 28-year-old Dutch defender, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, is certain to start for Frank de Boer’s side tonight, considering the absences of Virgil Van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Aké.

Tonight’s game will be De Vrij’s 39th cap for the Netherlands, a low amount considering the player’s qualities and experience.

The 28-year-old Dutchman did not appear for his country from October 2018 to October 2020, almost exactly two years without taking to the pitch for the Netherlands.

He played in every game for the Oranje in their last major tournament, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where he scored against Spain in the opening fixture.

Probable Netherlands line-up (4-3-3): Krul; Dumfries, Veltman, Stefan De Vrij, Blind; Wijnaldum, F. De Jong, Van de Beek; Promes, L. De Jong, Depay.
