Inter are set for an enormous financial windfall after agreeing to join a new European Super League, a report in the Italian media highlighted today.

The Nerazzurri were one of 12 leading European clubs to confirm their participation in the new league last night, with competition to begin ‘as soon as practicable’.

Tuttosport’s print edition said Inter, along with AC Milan and Juventus, would receive around €350 million just for signing on the dotted line when the Super League began.

They would then join their nine fellow clubs in splitting a €6 billion jackpot, which is how much the tournament could be worth between sponsorship and TV rights.

Inter are one of 12 leading European clubs who have confirmed they will be founders of the new league, along with six Premier League clubs – Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool – and three La Liga teams, namely Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

20 teams are expected to participate in the Super League, as per an official statement last night, with 15 founding clubs and five clubs who qualify for the tournament each year via league position.

The Super League is expected to hold matches in midweek while the teams continue to take part in their respective league competitions at weekends.
