Inter Milan would reportedly turn to Atalanta wingback Emil Holm if Denzel Dumfries were to leave the club in the summer.

As Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews) tells it, the Dutchman is the only Nerazzurri regular starter who could depart at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old’s contract with the club is only valid until June 2025. Since the two parties haven’t made significant progress in their extension negotiations, they could decide to part ways in the summer.

Inter would be keen to sell Dumfries in order to avoid losing his services a year later for free. Manchester United have reportedly emerged as a suitor of the Netherlands international.

Moreover, the Roman newspaper claims the Italian champions have set their sights on Holm as a possible replacement.

Inter Milan Identify Emil Holm As Potential Replacement For Denzel Dumfries

The 23-year-old gained fame on Italian soil during his time at Spezia. Following the club’s relegation to Serie B last season, he joined Atalanta on loan. La Dea has the option to make his stay permanent.

However, the Sweden international hasn’t been able to cement himself as a regular starter in Bergamo. Gian Piero Gasperini often prefers the more experienced Davide Zappacosta on the right flank. Hans Hateboer is also another option.

This season, Holm has made 30 appearances for Atalanta across all competitions. He contributed with a single goal and three assists.

But as the source tells it, this operation will mainly depend on the offers Dumfries will receive.

The 28-year-old has no intention to leave the Nerazzurri for a smaller club. Therefore, if no big names come knocking on the door, he could simply decide to linger for another year and see out his contract, much to Inter’s dismay.
