Stramaccioni: “We should be shown a bit of respect”

“I tried to prepare for the game as well as I possibly could. It was a bit annoying to hear a Juventus official [Beppe Marotta, Ed.] making ironic comments before the game. I wonder if he thinks the same now, given that he joked about ‘Stramaccioni’s recklessness’…” That was Andrea Stramaccioni’s first remark after watching his side beat the Bianconeri at the Juventus Stadium.

He went on: “We work hard all week, we prepare for everything down to the last detail. We won this game deservedly despite a couple of decisions. I think we should be shown a bit of respect. We’ve beaten Juve after they hadn’t lost for a few games….”

The Nerazzurri coach then analysed the match: “Inter started off well regardless of their goal and as the minutes passed we kept growing. That’s the first time I’ve seen Juventus struggle like that. At half time I was sure we’d get ourselves back in the match. It’s in situations like these that you see how good you are. Inter are on the up. Is this the best day of my career? The best day of my career was when the president chose me to coach Inter. I’m proud to be the Inter coach and I’m happy for our fans who can enjoy this win.”

Stramccioni also reserved a few words of praise for “the job Palacio and Milito did on Pirlo, that was incredible. I said yesterday that we wanted to win it but nobody believed me.”
