In an interview with Radio Rai Javier Zanetti spoke about Saturday’s big win in Turin:

“An important victory in a historically very emotional game. We are aware that we have passed a fundamental test, but from today we think of Belgrade. The Inter of today have a significant mix of young and not so young, but above all, it’s a real group. We want to return to being key players and I think that cohesion is the most important aspect for achieving important goals.”

On the relationship with the coach Stramaccioni:

“A relationship that is first and foremost based on respect. He is three years younger, that’s true, but he has the potential to do a good job because it has nothing to do with age. It is the ideas you have that counts. If I feel like a big brother to our coach? Inter have very clear ideas and when mister was appointed, he presented himself with a great humility. He has created a team to work with calm, that stands behind the coach. First and foremost, it must be good for Inter: that is the only way we can return to being protagonists.”

The captain describes the feeling of defeating Juventus:

“Juventus were deserving of being unbeaten because they have demonstrated that they have been superior over the past year. During the summer, they have not undergone any major changes, which we have. With that said, it was a great undertaking to win there, but now we focus on Thursday.”

How then does Zanetti to continue to be among the best despite his age:

“Being a professional is essential. I realize that I age, I certainly need more treatment than before. But the right attitude towards your profession is the most fundamental aspect to do well.”

Was the  captain consulted when Stramaccioni added?

“Me and the president always talk, we agree on many things. When I found out about Stramaccionis arrival I, as captain, made myself available for Inter’s best and made sure that the condition in the dressing room was the right one.”

Finally, Moratti accused referee Tagliavento of making mistakes, “aware that he was making mistakes.” Does the captain agree:

“Everyone saw what happened. We also protested against the non-expulsion of Lichtsteiner. But you can not go back now, we look forward and hopefully such things will not happen anymore. The only way to respond is to stay focused on the game: we knew we could come back during the time that was available. Then, during the first half, we did our job. When they scored the goal, we did not realize that it was offside, but the red card yes. During half-time rest, we found out that it was offside on Asamoah. “
