SempreInter.com interviewed Genoa and Sweden International central defender Andreas Granqvist exclusively after the Swede helped his team to a 1-1 draw against Inter earlier today at the San Siro. The interview was conducted in Swedish so below you can read the English transcript. If you want to see the interview click on the embeded video below.

A 1-1 draw today, before todays envounter Inter were in second position and Genoa were second from the bottom, how do you feel about having drawn 1-1 here at San Siro?

“Well before the game we hoped to be able to take one point with us home, we knew it was going to be a very difficult match, then we took the lead through a counter-attack and they equalised in the last 10 minutes but I think we should be happy with one point as we played an incredibly good team today.”

What do you think about your teams performance today?

“We focused a lot on defending today, we knew that going into this game since they have some skillfull players like Cassano, Palacio & Milito but I think we had it under control today. We didn’t let them create that many chances and we created some good chances ourselves so generally I think we were solid in defence and created chances when we could.”

What do you think about your own performance today?

“It felt very good, I’m very happy. It’s always extra fun to play against the big teams, they are all so incredibly skilled so if you can compete with them you know you’ve put in a good performance.”

Why do you think that things haven’t gone so well for genoa so far this season?

“We have a very young squad, we’ve brought in many new players coming into this season, we’re in the middle of building up the team, especially since the new coach has come in we’re slowly building up something surely and slowly and we haven’t gotten the points we maybe deserved. We will reinforce the squad in January and thats why I think we will start to climb up the table after the break.

Finally what do you prefer, Swedish Christmas food or Italian?

“Definately Swedish [smiles].

So you’re off back home to Sweden for Christmas?

“Yes.”
