In April we reported that Inter were interested in young German defender Jan Kirchhoffer. His name is back as a possible reinforcement for the Inter-defence after one of his agents confirmed that Inter were interested in signing the player. Now it’s become abundantly clear that the player will not extend his contract with current club Mainz after his current contract expires in June 2013. The player has been quoted as saying: “It hasn’t been an easy decision but I know the right time has come now to make some changes. If I will play somewhere outside of Germany? I don’t know that yet seeing as I still havent signed for any other club.” Mainz manager Christian Heidel also confirms this and also rules out a possible transfer in January: “Jan will leave us in June, until then he will remain with us. There will be no changes made in January.”
