Sneijder: “Neither Inter nor I are at the top”

For teh first time after completing his transfer to Galatasaray, Wesley Sneijder, now speaks about Inter and what happened at the club as well as revealing why he chose to join the Turkish giants: “Moratti is a fantastic person, our problems were only of a financial nature. I wish Inter all the best. Before I made up my mind I spoke to Mourinho and Van Gaal who are two fundamental figures in my career., they told me to sign for Galatasaray. They gave me the final push to choose the Turkish club and it’s a new challenge sporting wise.
Then Sneijder is asked to explain why he didn’t sign for ay of the top 5 clubs in Europe: “Because I’m not one of the top 5 players in the world and Inter isn’t one of the top 5 clubs in the world. We were the best around when we won the Champions league in 2010 but I have no doubts that moving to Galatasaray is a step forward with regards to my career. I will be playing regularly ina very difficult league, Galatasaray is a very big club and I have many fantastic team-mate. This is also very important given the World Cup which is coming up in 2014. I’m here for the money? If I’d cared about the money I’d sit on a lounge-chair in Milano, given that I had two and a half years left on my contract. Instead I’m here and I’m ready to go out on the pitch immediately.”
