Atalanta’s Marino: “The deal for Schelotto does not take off”

Atalanta CEO Pierpaolo Marino was interviewed by Carlo Laudisa in the program ‘Speciale Calciomercato’ on Gazzetta TV and talked about Inter’s attempts to acquire Ezequiel Schelotto: “As I said, the deal does not take off. It’s been a few skirmishes, the relationship between the two presidents, Moratti and Percassi, is particularly good, but right now there is no bid that allows us to say how the negotiations will be.”

There is talk of a valuation of 8 million euros and an offer of 2.5 million plus half of the ownership in Marko Livaja (estimated 1.5 million) in exchange for part ownership in Atalanta’s winger: “At this time, it is not easy to get into a valuation when it’s about player exchanges because you risk giving inflated figures that doesn’t correspond to reality. We’re talking about a player who has not yet established himself in Serie A the way Schelotto did last season and so far in this year’s competition. Talking about 8 million is an exaggeration. One must also look at how to evaluate Livaja in an affair. However Schelotto is a good player, he is 23 years old and still young. He is also experienced, I still think it is an attractive price for these qualities during this transfer market.”

Atalanta has already acquired Budan for their attack. Would there be room for Livaja? “Yes, absolutely, because we need to have more reserves available, we received an injury to Marilungo and must therefore have enough gunpowder in the attack. Especially since Denis plays almost as much as a goalkeeper. As CEO of Atalanta, I would like a solution in regards to the budget, but from a technical perspective, it would give me great peace for the future in the league if we could ensure that Schelotto and Colantuono were still here on February 1.”
