Stramaccioni: “A lost opportunity, transfer market…”

Shortly after Inter drew tonight at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza against Torino, Andrea Stramaccioni was interviewed by Italian Sky regarding his thoughts on tonights performance: “We started really well, we didnt allow Torino to play their game. We even took the lead but we have to blame ourselves, you cannot slip up and let an advantage like that slip away, not in the manner in which we did, without blaiming anyone in particular, I’m speaking generally now. Torino were very good, they didn’t create that many chances but they played after their potential. They score when Mudingayi is off the pitch. Then I saw the the reaction I was looking for because we didn’t wan’t to lose but then they score on a counter-attack, a draw was a fair result.”
Then he was asked to comment on the substituions of Mudingayi and Chivu who had to leave because of injuries: “We’re not lucky at the minute, two injuries in one match, Mudingayis injury is the most serious one, I think he has a problem with his Achilles tendon, but I won’t lose the plot. It’s a shame.”
Stramaccioni was naturally quizzed about any potential transfer market activities: “I don’t have to convince any-one, we have to give our all to reach the third spot which is our goal for the season. Today was a lost opportunity but we pay our compliments to Torino. Now we must reflect so we can prepare for the fixture against Siena. Cambiasso? We were angry when he came on because only a minute earlier we conceded a goal, when we were down to 10 men, these are things that happen.”
Stramaccioni the proceeded to continue to discuss Torino’s equalizer: “It was a collective mistake, we made a mistake in defence. The goalkeeper shouldn’t pass the ball then and there to Guarin, who isn’t used to receiving the ball in that position, and who tried to create a play in our third of the pitch. We all made a mistake, first and foremost I did, for wasting an advantage. Our basic system is 3-5-2, tonight we decided to slip around a little bit, Guarin positioned himself out wide. Then Chivu injured himself but we didnät despair. The only tactical change was when we brought on Cambiasso and changed to a diamond-shape in midfield. And obviously tried to change the match as well.”
Finally he was asked to comment on Juventus director Marotta’s comments from yesterday: “We have never looked for any excuses or alibis, I’m Inter’s manager and I speak accordingly. I will answer questions about my team, I am not interersted to start a controversy with anyone, others will have to claim responsibility for what they say.”
