No surprises as to the man chosen for Inter’s pre-match press conference. Cristian Chivu took the questions of the media in his native Romania ahead of the Nerazzurri’s match against Cluj tomorrow night. He began by discussing his fitness:
“I’m fit but we’ll only know if I’m 100% after this afternoon’s session.”
“We’ve got a big match tomorrow, our aim is obviously to get through, but the fact we won 2-0 at the San Siro does not mean the tie is over. Cluj are a good team, we saw that in the Champions League, and we won’t take them lightly.”
Cluj tomorrow, AC Milan on Sunday. Chivu was asked if he’d prefer to get through in the Europa League or win the derby: “I’d prefer to get through tomorrow AND win against AC Milan!”
“It’s the first time I’m playing against a Romanian team, it’ll be quite emotional. It’s a special match for me,” admitted the defender.
Chivu was finally asked if he thinks Stramaccioni might ring the changes ahead of the derby:
“It might be a bit difficult to give certain players a breather given the problems we have, but I’m sure we’ll be able to give everything in both games.”
