Inter closes deal for talent Popa: “I will go to Inter”

From Romania comes the news that Inter’s youth section has made an acquisition. A local newspaper writes that Inter have now finalized a deal for Razvan Popa, a 16-year-old (born January 4, 1997) who plays as a midfielder for Sportul Studentesc. Reportedly, Inter spent € 250,000 to get the kid to Italy and thus beat competition from Chelsea. The confirmation comes from Popa himself who said: “I will go to Inter, I can’t say anything more. I know my life is now going to change and I hope that new opportunities will open up for me. I hope to be ready and meet expectations.” The player is expected to sign a five-year contract with Inter.

His coach Andronache Vergilius stated that he was unaware of Popa’s upcoming move, but hoped the player would remain another year in Romania and said that the player was not yet mature enough for the Italian adventure.

A teammate said he was happy for Popa, but also “for the team, given that the money the club will get will make them able to pay salaries.”
