When he was 15 years old he made his debut in the Romanian first division after having, only a year earlier, threatened to say goodbye to football. Sportul Studentesc caught him after he had failed to get a chance with Steaua Bucharest and now the 16-year-old midfielder Razvan Popa is getting ready to meet a new experience – with Inter.

Thanks to the insistence of his father, who reported him to a famous Romanian football academy, he managed to win the appreciation from the youth coach in Sportul, Vergilius Andronache who selected him for the team and gave him the opportunity to win the national title for U-16. This became a springboard into the first team where he got his debut on March 15, 2012 when he played four minutes in a match against Dinamo Bucharest and became the third youngest player ever to play in the Romanian first division after Nicolae Dobrin and Florin Raducioiu.

After Sportul were relegated Popa has been able to prove himself in the Romanian second division enough to catch the attention of Inter and Chelsea. The English club has for some time tried to acquire the player, but Inter, which was confirmed by the player’s entourage, were more determined.
