Jonathan

After several months of silence, the moment of revenge has arrived for Jonathan. The Brazilian right-back has surprised all and lately he has been one of the best in the team and so even today when he, among other things, assisted to Rocchi’s winning goal. He really wants to talk and in the mixed zone, where our colleagues from fcinternews.it were present, Jonathan took time to ventilate.

Is there something developing between you and Inter?

“I don’t know if there’s something that is developing but I’m happy for this moment I’m currently living in. I know it’s not easy for this team right now with all the injuries, but I dedicate this victory to all those who are injured.”

Why are we seeing the real Jonathan just now?

“I’m a different player. Some have a certain kind of personality, others have another. Some play more, some play less. That’s more fair for some, less for others. I haven’t been bad every time I’ve played, I’ve been on same level as the rest of the team. At some point I was blamed for everything. Jonathan should leave, Jonathan should do this or that. If it rained, it was my fault, if it was snowing, it was the same. These things happen, I’ve always had my mind in the right place, I’ve been focused. I know I can play for Inter because I have the qualities to play here, the directors who bought me know that. I hope to continue to do well, I’m not saying I’m the best in the world because I’m not. I ‘m different from Maicon, he has his qualities and I have others. He is him and I am me. I’m hoping I get more continuity and do well.”

You want to stay at Inter?

“I want to stay. Maicon is a great champion, we were in the same club and he went to Europe and I went into the first team. I have always said that we have different qualities, he’s 189 centimeters tall and I’m 171. I always want to play, Inter are a great team. I have been called all sorts of things but if Inter bought me it was because they knew I could play here. The directors (Branca and Ausilio) are good, damn it. I want to stay, I have many friends here, it’s a great club.”

At Inter there is a bit of a hunt for a scapegoat. First it was you, then Alvarez and now Schelotto. What is your advice for those who go through these moments?

“I say that there are always many injustices. With me it was too much. If people could see what Alvarez does in training, things that are spectacular. He lacks self-confidence, regular playing time. He needs peace and continuity and play with joy.”

Recently there have been many players who prefer to stay at home in Brazil rather than to come to Europe. How do you explain that?

“In Brazil, football has evolved a lot. There are big players like Ronaldinho who has returned and then there is Ganso and Neymar. Not long ago Lucas left. Taking a spot on the national team isn’t easy. I don’t want to return yet. I wants to stay at Inter. I wish my countrymen the best of luck.”
