pirlo

In his autobiography, written together with Sky’s Alessandro Alciato, Andrea Pirlo talks about a move that never materialized. In the book ‘Penso quindi gioco’ (I think, therefore I play ed.) the Juventus midfielder reveals that Leonardo wanted him to Inter: “It was 2011 and I had just been released by Milan. This year they all came forward, even Inter. I was called once, I remember it well, it was a Monday morning after the season was over. On the other side of the line was Leonardo, Inter’s coach at the time, ‘Listen, it’s finally done, I’ve been given the green light by Massimo Moratti, we can start negotiating.’ Among other things, he told me good things about Inter, how he felt charged and how well he liked it there. It could be a challenge, fascinating: to return where I was before, going over to the other side after ten years with Milan, of which nine had been extraordinary. Even at this Leonardo could help me if it wasn’t for the fact that he, just a few weeks later, would fly to Paris Saint-Germain. He told me that I would have a major role in his Inter and at a certain point I was considering it, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it. It would have been an insult that Milan’s fans wouldn’t have deserved”.
