Rocchi: “I’m glad that I’ve made those that underestimated me change their minds”

Tommaso Rocchi, match winner today against Parma, analyzed the game in the mixed zone where our colleagues from fcinternews.it were present.

Did you expect that you would to play such a crucial role?

“I’m satisfied, it’s normal when you are a part of an important team like Inter to be aware that you always have to be ready. I’ve been playing more regularly and I know I’ve been playing well with the rest of the team even when the results didn’t go our way.”

Are you in a completely different physical shape now than when you got here?

“That’s true, but I was aware of it. The criticism is understandable, but I played very little during the first part of the season. It took a while for me to get back in shape. Playing games has helped mentally. I’ve  found the right mechanisms with teammates now.”

Why were you suffering before the goal? Was it because Parma were good or because Inter were bad?

“Well, I would say both. Parma have good players, they defend well and are dangerous in counterattacks. We tried to make it difficult for them directly, we had several good chances. Then this isn’t our best time and therefore we need a favorable period to provide security.”

How is it to play with Ricky Alvarez?

“It feels good. Ricky has great potential and can get past defenders easily and create numerical superiority. The same goes for Schelotto who has other characteristics but gives more depth.”

Was a weight lifted off your shoulders after all the criticism you received during the first few months?

“I’m not vindictive, I am aware of what I can do and it’s obvious that I’m glad that I’ve made those that underestimated me change their minds. I never had any doubts.”

How is Schelotto doing?

“He’s obviously a little sad. A supporter who watches the game always wants the best. On the other hand, there are players who are always trying their best but don’t always succeed.”

Is it absurd to talk about the Champions League when you look at the schedule?

“We have to focus on ourselves and what others are doing, we will see in the end.”
