Moratti about Handanovic, new stadium, investors and Leonardo

Massimo Moratti has been interviewed about many interesting things that happen at Inter right now. Here’s the full interview:

Presidente, how far has the idea of new investors at Inter gone?

“No lies have been written in the newspapers since the interest from some companies is real.”

USA, Kazakstan and Uzbekistan, from where would these investors come?

“I’ve read about different countries, and what has been written is right. But for some things, time is needed.”

Is it a matter of weeks or months for the deal do be done?

“Both parts must agree. Right now we’re only at the first contacts, but both the selling and buying parts must be happy and have the same intention if there’s to be something.”

Even though Italian football is going through a crisis, there are big entrepreneurs who’re ready to invest at Inter. What does this say to you?

“That Inter are still very charmy in many countries and this means everything to me.”

Of all potential partners, is there only place for one to enter the club?

“Yes, a mix could create confusion. We need a united identity to create what we want.”

Will the new investors build Inters new stadium?

“The idea about the new stadium is important and interesting, but we can’t underestimate San Siro where there is a very nice project going on. It’s a reality that we have to consider since it’ll take time to build a new stadium and since we’ll remain at San Siro for a couple of years.”

Did you see the game between Barcelona and Bayern. Did you expect to see Bayern fall?

“I just saw a part of the game. It seems like we’re the only ones who can beat Bayern and we did it twice.”

Talking about Barcelona, if there’d arrive an offer worth 30 million for Handanovic, what would you answer?

“I haven’t heard anything about an offer yet. Handanovic is very important for this club and we’ll try to keep him.”

What if Barcelona would offer Sanchez in exchange?

“Sanchez is a very good player, but he’s hard to get. For us the important thing is to create a team and to have a defense that doesn’t concede goals, seeing as we have always scored with our attackers.”

Do you have any regrets from this season?

“We’re sorry that we won’t reach the Champions League since participating there makes a big difference for the economy of the club and for the appeal of the club.”

What do you expect from the end of the season?

“That the team keeps the excitement up until the end, just as last sunday.”

Your opponenents have greater motivations, will this make things harder?

“I wouldn’t say so since we’ve made our worst performances when things have looked easier.”

There are rumours from France about a return for Leonardo to the club, is this possible?

“I don’t think so. He feels well at Paris and we’re not a club that can spend in the same way as PSG on the mercato. I like Leonardo and remain fond of him because of sympathy. But if we talk, it’s to value our interest in some of their players that could interest us.”
