Zanetti: “Everybody thinks I’m bringing in the Argentines, but I don’t know Botta”

On Radio Deejay, Javier Zanetti was interviewed by Ivan Zazzaroni and Fabio Caressa in Deejay Football Club and Inter’s captain is now recovering after surgery on his Achilles tendon and he started off by making jokes about what he’s doing nowadays, “If I have already begun to run? No , unfortunately. I’m home with the kids, watching TV. Now, Paula is always trying to make me do things.”

How does the captain feel today about his injury? “It was bound to happen, unfortunately, we are now very few, but I see it all as part of the job. Now I focus on healing.”

It is an Interteam which is ruined by injuries, including future player Ruben Botta: “He had too much bad luck. Whoit is that brings bad luck? I don’t know, but if I find out I will take him out with the crutches,” he laughed.

Can we expect to see Zanetti on the field at age 42? “If I get well again, it’s possible, I hope so.”

The conversation then went on with the captain explaining his statements about Leonardo and the possible negative reaction from Marco Branca: “It’s a wonderful person, I am a big admirer. When I say that he would do a good job everywhere I tell the truth. But it has nothing to do with Marco Branca, he has another job and he does it well.”

Javier also talked about the meeting with the Pope Francesco: “It’s a very important thing, it was an unforgettable moment for me and my family.”

The captain then received questions about the coming transfer market and Caressa added, “that ultimately is determined by you”: “Everybody thinks I’m bringing in the Argentines, but I don’t know Botta or Gino Peruzzi. Everybody say, however, that all purchases are determined by me.”

He then returned to Leonardo: “He’s happy in Paris, he guaranteed that to me.”

On Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “It seems that Juve want him seriously, according to me it would be a good buy.”

On José Mourinho: “We have talked, he told me that his adventure in Real hasn’t been easy. He was very focused on this year’s Champions League. Now I don’t know what he will do. Who gets the last to embrace from him in Madrid? Well, he has been embraced by Sergio Ramos (laughs Ed.) Mou’s best trait is that he’s a winner, he always knows how to convey something to the team. Worst trait? It’s that he argues with everyone, but I don’t know if that’s a bad trait.”
