Stramaccioni to Sky: “Supporters have a right to express their opinion”

Yet another strange evening for Inter. A loss filled with disappointment, mistakes, penalties, injuries, and other sorts of absurdities. After the match Andrea Stramaccioni arrived to Sky’s microphone and looked like a person who just stepped off a roller coaster.

“To comment on this kind of match is certainly not easy. We have lost a game that even my friend Petkovic, after the game had ended, admitted that Inter deserved to bring a result from. We also lost Jonathan due to a shoulder injury that is unpredictable. There were many negative episodes, the goals, the penalties, tonight everything was there, the symbol of the moment we’re going through. We played the game with Benassi and Pasa who were born in 1994. We left our soul on the pitch, the fans understand that and this is important to us. As in Naples, we implemented the game for 90 minutes, but it ends like this. What I expect now? Everyone who was present at the San Siro saw that we gave everything on the pitch. Those who live every day with Inter know about our situation during the last three months. Now we have to finish well, the club is working on the transfer market. There are many positive notes that we can start over from. Our duty is to give our all until the very end, and sooner or later it will change.”

Serious mistakes by Handanovic and Alvarez: a sign? “Alvarez played a good game and even great champions have slipped on the penalty spot. Ricky told me that he had fooled the goalkeeper but then he slipped with the supporting leg. Handanovic? I will not even talk about it, he’s one of the best and a security for the future. He also may have made an error of judgment but then he meets up with three players and the ball goes in.”

One of the questions from the Curva Nord was why those who leave Inter talk ill about Inter and not of Moratti. What answer do you have? “I hope I don’t find out why, because it would mean that I would have to leave. (Laughs) Seriously, all criticism is allowed. During the 90 minutes the whole arena drove us on. We are out of achieving our goals but it pleases me to hear the applause and they don’t know how much we want to pay them back. Moratti gives everything he has for the club: heart, soul and passion. He is the first to suffer with us. But these supporters have a right to express their opinion.”
