Javier Zanetti recieved and award earlier tonight as Serie A’s Gentleman and afterwards he held a short pressconference which we at SempreInter.com reproduce in full below.
How important is your opinion for President Moratti when it comes to the manager?
“I am completely sincere now, he will speak once the season is over. Many people think that as soon as an Argentinian player arrives it’s because I have decided it but that’s not how it is. I only say what I think, I have already spoke to the President and Iäm convinced that he, the manager and the whole club are doing their best to build a very strong Inter.”
How important is the opinion of the other members of the club?
“The Moratti family’s footprint is always there, they are a part of Inter’s history. These are all considerations athat the president must make together with his family, what counts is that Inter is at a high level.”
Were you surprised by the fans protest?
“It was very civil, they asked questions, somethign even we do. We have to think about what’s best for Inter.”
What do you think about the fight between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Leonardo?
“No, it was just a normal argument. Leonardo is doing very well in Paris Saint-Germain, I would like to pay him my compliments on having won the league. Leo and I are friends.”
Are Peruzzi and Icardi good enough to play for Inter?
“Icardi has shown at Sampdoria that he is a very good striker. When it comes to Peruzzi I have only stated my opnion, some people seem to think that i will bring him to Inter but that’s not how it is. I spoke about the matter, which is a good thing, with the club.”
Many people think that when Oriali left there was no longer a link between the club and its players…
“I think that Lele was very important for Inter. then everyone works to improve, sometimes for the better and sometimes it doesn’t go as well.”
What do you think about the racist chants during yesterdays match between Milan and Roma?
“I am very sorry for what happened and the referee sent out a strong and clear message, I hope this doesn’t happen again.”
Will the fact that Botta is coming mean that Alvarez will leave?
“Alvarez is a very interesting player, something he has demonstrated these past few matches and something he continues to do. Unfortunately his season has been full of ups and downs but for us he is a very important player. Botta has unfortunately sustained an injury, I hope that he will recover as soon as possible but he has shown in Argentina that he is a very important player.”
