Belfodil: “What matters is being ready for when the matches mean something”

One of the positive notes to come out of Inter’s defeat to Valencia was Ishak Belfodil‘s bright display. After the game the Algerian striker spoke to Inter Channel.

“Yes, I was in better shape today but we always look at the team’s performance as a whole and we were a bit jaded today while our opponents had more pace than us. We’re disappointed of course because we always want to win but the most important thing in this period is that we keep on improving.

“It’s the second game running in which we’ve conceded goals? In this tournament it seems that the opposition only need one shot to score, whereas we can try and try but the ball just won’t go in. As I said, we were more tired than Valencia and it was pretty clear out there, but at this stage of the season fitness levels come into it a lot and whichever team has got more in them wins. There’s nothing wrong with our preparation. It doesn’t matter whether our work pays off immediately or not. What matters is being ready for when the matches mean something.”
