Fredy Guarin was interviewed by Sky after the victory against Fiorentina and here are his words about his gesture when he was substituted:
“I did that gesture because we weere going through a tough part of the game and I wanted the fans to support us. I didn’t want to offend anyone, I just wanted to state that it’s better to show support instead of booing us. We need it. We are a new team that is under construction and the fans are very important for us, especially when we play at home. If anyone was offended, I’d like to apologize but my intention wasn’t offending anyone. I want the best for my teammates and the supporters.”
Guarin continued talking about the situation to Inter Channel:
“I was booed at times at Porto as well, then I won the treble. These things can make you grow as a player. I always want the best for Inter and the supporters. The gesture I made wasn’t to offend anyone, I just wanted to show the supporters we needed them. We needed them as our extra players on the field.”
The Colombian then talked about the game to Inter Channel:
“Fiorentina is a great team that really plays good football, but when we equalized our strength made us turn the result around. Turning a game around like this is very important psychologically. We believed in it all the time and we have been practicing on it during the weeks. I should be able to use my shot better, but the most important thing is playing for the team. I must make the right decisions for the team and if I can’t shoot, I must make the team play well.”
Guarin then concludes with saying that he can improve:
“I know I can better because I know my qualities. I am trying to work hard to feel well and to do well, today we had difficulties and we’ll discuss with the coach what we did wrong tonight. We are on the right path and that’s what counts. Scudetto? I want it, badly.”
