Cambiasso: “A strange game, but nothing like last season”

After tonight’s game, Esteban Cambiasso is interviewed by Sky: “Tonight’s match was pre-destined to end like it did. There are certain games when you immediately feel that things are not going to go your way. I remember Guarin’s shot that hit the post, and the penalty rewarded for a foul outside the area. But there’s no need to draw parallels to last season. Today we comment on a loss in a calm and collected way, just like we would have done on a win. The difference is that we miss the smiles that three points would have given us”.

Later, Cambiasso is interviewed by Inter Channel: “Even the supporters understand that we gave our all today. Now there is an international break, hopefully everyone will return in good form to prepare for the game against Torino”. But what decided the game? Cambiasso replies: “I believe that in the modern game, the team that scores the first goal gets a big advantage. Then came the second goal, and later came the third. We were knocked out. Some games are like that, there is no point to start looking for excuses. We will have to praise Roma, sometimes you get more than you deserve. Maybe we could have started hoping for a miracle if we had just scored one goal. Andrea’s disallowed goal could have been a turning point in the game, I don’t know if it was a foul or not. The result was fair however, Roma deserved to win as they are going through a fantastic period. Let’s hope that this season will be like a few seasons ago, when Roma beat us at home and we beat them in Rome…”
