It was only a friendly, but like all friendly games it served its purpose: to preserve the team’s fitness and match tempo. Inter beat Locarno 3-0 at the Appiano Gentile, in front of president Massimo Moratti. As expected it was the home team that took control of the game, and any potential suspense disappeared when Belfodil beat the Locarno keeper from the penalty spot after only 90 seconds. Mazzarri’s men continued to control play, with a positive performance from Wallace. Juan Jesus, however, can still improve. At half time, a number of substitutions were made to make way for youth players and reserves. Of these players Danish midfielder Patrick Olsen, born in 1994, stood out as the best player on the pitch in the second half. Olsen controlled the tempo, scored Inter’s second goal and was very active throughout the half. Five minutes later Walter Samuel returned to the scoresheet, even though only in a friendly game. Mazzarri can be satisfied, there were several positives to be drawn from the game but also a lot left to work on.
