Basta: “Of course I’m happy that Inter are following me”

On the pitch, he has an endless motor that never stops, he runs up and down the right wing for 90 minutes , he fights and is gifted with a good technique. He is a regular for Udinese and Dusan Basta is also an important player for the Serbian national team. It’s no secret that Mazzarri and Inter want him and the fact that the club from Milan constantly monitors the situation is a clear sign that the player in the future could wear the black and blue shirt.

Our partner fcinternews.it got an exclusive interview with Dusan and took the opportunity to ask questions about the present, future and even about his compatriot Dejan Stankovic. He, however, began to talk about his current situation in Udinese: “In recent years , we have achieved great results and now everyone expects us to repeat it, that we will continue at this very high level , but that’s not fair. Of course, we’ll try, we will give everything to make it, but it is not easy. We are a provincial club and this season’s competition in Serie A is much tougher than before. It makes me happy because the teams get stronger and therefore you can reach good results in Europe and soon, I hope that you will be able to see four Italian teams in the Champions League and so on. Therefore, we in Udinese focus on reaching 40 points as quickly as possible because it is not good to set goals that are too high. First, we must make sure to avoid relegation and then play for fun.”

Then he talked about the future. Dusan is aware that Inter are interested in him and he doesn’t deny that he’s flattered: “Of course I’m happy that Inter are following me. They are a good team and this year I am sure they will do very well in the league. But I should just concentrate on what happens on the pitch and give my best and then we’ll see what happens. Obviously, I would be glad to someday wear Inter’s or any other big team’s shirt. Why wouldn’t I? I hope so… I ‘m happy in Udinese. I’m doing well here, but if someone would call, I would evaluate my future together with Udinese.”

Speaking of Inter, he also talked about his friend Dejan Stankovic who in last week’s international against Japan ended his career by playing his 103rd international: “First of all, he is a great person, no doubt. Obviously, be he a great player, very important for my country. I ‘m glad he got to say goodbye to football in Serbia, and that he was thanked with a victory because we beat the Japanese 2-0.”

Serbia has many players in the Italian football: “For our coach Siniša Mihajlovic Italy is like a second home and then there are many players who have played in Serie A. It’s a good situation that can help us.”
