Tuttosport: “Barcelona are following Milito”. Moratti…

MILITO

Today’s edition of  Tuttosport contains a rumour that originated a couple of days ago in the Spanish tabloid  El Mundo Deportivo: Barcelona are investigating the possibilities of signing Diego Milito. According to the rumour, the man behind this idea is Barcelona head coach Gerardo Martino, who views Milito as a striker with all the characteristics that are currently lacking in the Barcelona squad. There are at least three good reasons why Milito would fit in well at Barça: he is a “number nine” who can also play as a supporting striker, and he has a good feeling with Messi and Narcis Julià, his assistant manager from the years at Real Zaragoza.  The third reason is that his contract expires this summer, which means that he could join the Spanish champions for free.

Massimo Moratti would,  because of his very high appreciation for Diego, hardly deny him the chance to play for Barcelona, if the player wanted to move. Another alternative is Racing Avellaneda the club where Milito is looking to finish his playing career. The adventure in Barcelona would, if it becomes reality, not last longer than a season and a half and would therefore not stop Diego from then returning to the club where he began his professional career.
