Esteban Cambiasso: “I always knew Alvarez was this good”

After a great performance by Esteban Cambiasso, who seems to be reborn after the two last disappointing seasons the interim Inter captain spoke with Sky Italia: “I talk a lot on the pitch? That is something I have to do in my role as a captain. Mazzarri said that I have returned to the levels of the days when Mourinho sat on the Inter bench? I like this team and playing together gives us satisfaction, as a player you know there are games that makes you suffer and there are games that makes you feel amazing.”

“But it’s a great satisfaction to play all other games as well, when we are obligated to dominate. Even after the tough game against Atalanta I was quiet because I saw that the team was angry, and just waited to react. Now Zanetti will soon be back and I’m not jealous to return the captains armband. As a matter of fact, I never wanted it in the first place, if you know what kind of relationship we have and how important it’s for us. I feel his absence and I will be very happy to see him returning to the group.”

“Mazzarri’s imprint on the team can already be seen, as with all his previous teams. Surely but safely we’re also taking on this identity. Alvarez? I was convinced in the past that we could do as well as he’s doing right now. Of I had said so in public then they would say that becasue of the so called ‘Argentinian maffia’. It’s better to stay quiet and wait for it. We always knew about his potential, he needed a bit of structure in order to realize it and we, his team-mates, weren’t able to help him fulfill it either. It’s the same thing now with Kovacic.”
