Ricky Alvarez was interviewed by premium Calcio about his thoughts after today’s win in Stadio Friuli in Udine.
“We played a great first half, however we’ve played a lot of good matches but we haven’t been cunning enough at times, but we’re enjoying a great run in the league. We have to learn from the small things, but we have understood that we are a team that needs all the players in the squad, those who play as well as those who don’t play. It’s important tobe able to show our spirit on the pitch.”
Alvarez was then asked what Mazzarri has done to regenerate the team: “Since he arrived he knew about my condition, that I lacked continuity and we’ve worked on this. Durign the pre-season camp I worked very well and this is why I feel good now. But we all want to fight, just like the coach does. I have more space when I play deeper in the pitch. Against teams that close you down, it’s more tiring to play further up the pitch, which is a great difference.
“I’ve had a few injuries which have slowed me down, I’m fine now but I won’t stop now as there is still a lot lacking. Champions League? We’re only looking forward to every match, we’re still growing. If we’d been a bit more cunning in our previous fixtures we would have had a few more points, that’s really all we’re lacking. We have to improve on this.”
