Sky – Icardi’s surgery a success, out for at least a month

Mauro Icardi underwent successful keyhole surgery on a sports hernia this afternoon. The operation was carried out in the presence of professor Franco Combi by Dr. Giuseppe Sansonetti, a specialist in abdominal surgery and consultant to the FC Internazionale medical staff.

According to reports from Sky the recovery time for Maurito should amount to at least a month. The emergency in Inter’s attack continues, but Icardi will get to work immediately to get back as soon as possible. The sports hernia, specifically, is caused by a congenital weakness of the posterior wall of the inguinal canal. A weakness of these tissues is often caused by the leakage of a section of the small intestine, giving rise to an inguinal hernia. The causes and symptoms of these two types of hernia are in fact very similar even if the hernia by sport, unlike the inguinal, doesn’t cause any swelling visible to the naked eye or noticeable by the touch.
