Sky Sport 24 transfermarket guru Gianluca Di Marzio discussed Inter’s strategy on the upcoming January transfermarket at great length last night.
“Nainggolan isn’t going anywhere in January, come June then the soap-opera will commence again. He’s a player that appelas to many parties, Thohir, Roma and several other clubs. We’ll have to wait and see if Cellino will be able to hang on to him. He is of Indonesian decent, which is why he could be of interest to Inter. Also, he’s young which makes him suitable for Thohir’s Inter. Inter’s transfermarket in January will be run by Ausilio and Branca and in June we will see which of them will remain at the club. I have read that Ausilio will go back to being charge of the youth academy but I don’t think this will happen. He could co-operate with whoever comes in or he will decide to do something else elsewhere. There is a lot of talk of Leonardo, Sabatini and Berta. Thohir has been receiving a lot of phone calls as it is a position that is of interest to many people.”
“January? You should pay attention to the fact that Mazzarri wants to work with a small group of players, therefore Inter won’t be doing too much in January. If they do anything it will only happen if they find a player which can bring something that the current squad lacks. If Pereira leaves then a wing-back could arrive. All eyes are on Genoa’s Vrsaljko, Inter have been following him closely in the league as well as with his national team. For the match between Switzerland and Croatia, Ausilio was present to watch Vrsaljko. However, Inter are looking to snap him in June.”
Finally Di Marzio gave his thought on the insistent rumours regarding Edin Dzeko and Fiorentina winger Cuadrado: “I don’t think that Dzeko want to move in January, he didn’t want even to move during the summer. This is a deal that would cost arounf 30 million Euro’s and the player would want around 5 million Euros per season, therefore the deal looks very difficult.”
“Cuadrado to stay with Fiorentina? He will definitely stay with the club until June, despite teams like Arsenal being prepared to offer 30 million Euro’s for him. Meanwhile Fiorentina have renewed the players contract, he used to earn 500.000 Euro’s but now earns 1.5 million Euro’s per season but the length of the contract remains unchanged. However in June anything can happen, the player is still co-owned with Udinese, who could maybe buy the player outright whilst being backed by a big club. There are many clubs who are interested in the player, I have my doubts as to if Fiorentina will be able to keep him, although they will give it their best shot.”
