In an interview in Portuguese Correio da Manha Inter’s defender Rolando talks about his adventures in Inter and begins by talking about a compatriot who will forever be loved in the club: “The name José Mouirnho is still much acclaimed. When I arrived at Inter people remembered him by the mere fact that I’m Portuguese. Massimo Moratti still has great love for him, he is still remembered with great nostalgia.”

Rolando also revealed that he had help of two former teammates from Porto, Alvaro Pereira and Fredy Guarin, when he came to Inter: “It has been nice to see them again. They helped me get into the team. When I came to Napoli I didn’t know anyone, at Inter it was different. We have experienced great moments in Porto, other than being teammates, we are also friends.”

But can Rolando return to Porto, the club he is on loan from? “We’ll see what Porto thinks. We will talk about it at the end of the season. If I could return, I would do it with pleasure because I left my heart in Porto, it’s like my home.”

On his performances in Inter and differences between the less successful six months in Naples: “I already knew Walter Mazzarri’s training methods and then, unlike in Napoli where I arrived in January after not having played for six months and had to find my rhythm again, I was involved in the preparations from the start with Inter, conducted the preseason just like the rest of the team.”

Inter’s goal is the Champions League? “We’ll see, we will define the goals ahead. We have played a quarter of the season, and at worst, we want to maintain this position. But Inter are a winning club and must fight for all the titles.”

About the World Cup in Brazil: “It is clear that it is a goal to be among the 23, I’m confident in my abilities. I hope to be there, but it’s up to the coach. I need to keep playing at a high level to be considered and work towards this goal.”
