Fredy Guarin is close to leaving Inter in January. Yesterday Inter’s transfer-duo Branca and Ausilio travelled to London to hold talks with Chelsea regarding the Colombian but also Andrea Ranocchia, another player who the Blues have made an enquiry about.

Mourinho likes the ex-Porto player and the fact that he is available to play in the Champions League this season makes him the best available option. Chelsea are planning a bid that would convince Inters directors either with or without offering players in exchange. The names mentioned as potential counterparts are Demba Ba, Juan Mata and Jon Obi Mikel, but first Mazzarri has to estimate just how useful these players would be to his Inter. A move from Manchester United can not yet be excluded, given that David Moyes likes the player, but at the moment Chelsea are far ahead in negotiations.

According to the editorial staff at FcInterNews, Guarin and his agent are currently waiting to learn more about Inter’s intentions and to know what decision will be taken regarding the player. Inter have still not released any official statements, and the Colombian has not asked to leave the club. The talks are still being kept low-profile, but the negotiations are very active. Erick Thohirs orders are clear: sell players before buying new ones. A sale of Guarin would mean earning money on one of the few players that are actually wanted by another team but isn’t seen as irreplaceable by the club.

The sum is said to be over 15 million euros, a bid that matches Inters evaluation of the player. Inter would then search the market for a striker and a winger, as requested by Mazzarri. If Guarin leaves however, that would create the need to sign an additional midfielder.

The dream is still Radja Nainggolan, with Fernando and Jucilei as other alternatives.
