Corriere dello Sport reports on the Nerazzurri’s next piece of business: A contract renewal for Rodrigo Palacio. This should take place no later than the middle of March, as an agreement in principle was reached before the Christmas break with the players representatives. The Argentinian turns 32 today and the Rome based daily notes that due to his age Palacio will be the first player to sign a contract with Erick Thohir’s new policies included. Thohir has reportedly given instructions that deals such as Palacio’s (and others such as the impending Nemanja Vidic deal) are structured so that appearance and performance bonuses will make up part of the salary. This is a specific requirement from the new president for players who may be more susceptible to injuries or a drop off in their level of performance due to age.
