Walter Mazzarri was interviewed by Sky Italia after having drawn with Cagliari at the San Siro and he was far from happy.
“In Florence we went ahead and this counts. Those who understand football know that football matches change, but we played a very good Cagliari with tactical elements in place to counter-attack. After our equalizer we werent’ able to convert our chances to score 2-1. Icardi & Botta? Substitutions are made for this very purpose, to bring someone on who performs better. Alvarez, who made his return, played well. But we had chances even before making any changes, for example with Guarin and Palacio. It went badly, but it’s clear that it’s difficult against Cagliari if you don’t take the lead.”
“Hernanes our talisman? He possesses those qualities which we have been lacking so far. He provides quality and certainty with his pesonality. Also he takes the set pieces very well, which are fundamentally important in these matches. It’s enough to find our winning ways and he is one of those who is decisive in this aspect.”
“I have already been through a lot, I accept everything you say. I don’t want to speak anymore about the referee’s. I want you to analyze these decisions in the best way” he tells Sky who show Mazzarri the footage from the match which prompts Mazzarri to continue: “now that I see this again I can’t stay quiet, the foul on Icardi is too obvious to miss. How can you miss it? In Florence it was offside, that’s true, but it wasn’t easy to see this however is easy to see.”
