Cambiasso: “I still want to play. Where? I don’t know.”

The vice-captain Esteban Cambiasso was interviewed by Marco Barzaghi for SoprtMediaset and he offered some interesting quotes, especially regarding his own future which is still unknown. He also talked about the club goals, the senators in the group and a comment about the new arrival in the squad Hernanes while overlooking for now to greet Nemanja Vidic.

The away game at Verona will be fundamental after the good outings at Firenze and Rome?

“I really think so; we are coming from two very good away games. We could’ve gotten more from the Olimpico though. To do well at Verona would be another confirmation.”

Do you think that it is important for Thohir’s project to have the team qualify for Europe for next year?

“Europe is the house of Inter. It would be important to qualify, also because it would be the result of a good position in the league. The history of the club pushes you to aim for the maximum, even though at times it isn’t possible to reach certain results.”

Matters then move on to the future.

“I still want to play, I’m 33 years old and I still see myself as a footballer. I don’t know where yet, but I want to continue playing. What I hear inside is a voice that says that I can still give a lot. Sign in blank? Yes, but we’d need to consider the time with the club. These phrases though are very “headline”. What is clear is this; no matter what happens, my history at Inter will be the most beautiful ones of my career.”

Regarding the senators:

“I could write a book.. All I’ve got to say is that I am proud and happy to be a part of this team and this club. If I were to evaluate what I’ve done I’d say I am more than satisfied. I’ve been an important player in the most beautiful moments of this group. I’ve always taken my responsibility and I know that in difficult times people are more on your case. But I repeat; I am happy to say that I’ve won 15 trophies.”

Sunday against Torino you were man of the match. The future?

“I am 33 years old and I am certain that I will continue to play football. If there is someone that wants to retire me that is their problem. The answers that I look for I find on the pitch and I will not deprive myself of what I love the most, playing football.

A comment about Hernanes.

“He is a great player but we shouldn’t burden him with too much responsibility.”

Cambiasso also talks about the meeting between Zanetti and Thohir:

“I don’t know what they told each other, at the moment it is better to stay out of it.”

Regarding Nemanja Vidic.

“We are talking about something that is far away. We are thinking about taking Inter back to Europe.”
