After his debut as the new goalkeeper of Toronto FC, Julio Cesar was interviewed by Globo Esporte. The former Inter goalkeeper, who now plays in Major League Soccer to prepare for the World Cup at home in June, compared his last three clubs:
“What’s different in Toronto? I can’t answer that, I’ve been here less than a month. About Inter I can only say that the years with the Nerazzurri was the best time in my career. During the first year it was amazing at Queens Park Rangers, even though we were relegated. The Premier League has a fantastic organization, the stadiums are always full and there there is a lot of respect among players and fans. But I must say that what I’ve seen in the MLS doesn’t differ much from what I saw in England: the organization is fantastic and the fans are very creative, many supporter groups. That was something I never thought I would find here.â€
When asked about who the possible opponents could be in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, Julio Cesar gave a surprising response: “We’re talking about Holland and Spain, but don’t forget Chile. They play some good football, we must not neglect them. If I had to guess, I would bet on Spain and on those who qualify from the group.â€
Can he see a future in Canada? “My contract extends to the World Cup, but nothing prevents me from discussing an extension. The most important thing for me is to focus on the upcoming matches before the tournament, to reach the Seleçao and hope to God we have an excellent World Cup and become champions for the sixth time. Thereafter, the future belongs to God.â€
