After the announcement of his contract renewal, Fredy Guarin sat down with Inter Channel’s Roberto Scarpini:
Fredy Guarin, 2017. Congratulations. I imagine you’re pleased to continue your relationship with Inter.
“Thank you so much Roberto. I’m very happy. It’s another dream come true. I hope to make the most of this opportunity, with my family, my team-mates and all the people who have always stood by me.”
Let’s go back to when you first came here from Porto. The adventure began in January… At that stage, did you ever think that you’d become such an important player for this club for so long?
“Two years have already gone by. This has been a positive experience since day one. An experience that has allowed me to improve every day. As of today, I’ve added another three years to what I’ve already experienced. There are lots of positives, I hope I can make the most of it, learn a lot and show what I can do on a daily basis.”
I think you probably know that a big project is about to start, as the club looks to the future and tries to go back to winning trophies again as it has in recent times. This new deal shows that the Inter management want Fredy Guarin in the team. Do you agree?
“Yes, that’s the thinking behind it. I think this is the perfect opportunity to thank the president, the coach and staff. Above all I want to thank my team-mates and the fans because the confidence they have shown in me has been so important. I hope to repay their faith straight away and contribute to this project going forward.”
A few days ago we had a similar conversation with Rodrigo, as his contract extension was announced. The best thing to do, after an announcement like this one, is to score in the next match. He managed to, now we expect you to do the same!
“I hope so. It would be great for the team, to win the game and obviously celebrate, because it would be so special.”
