Lies, more lies and statistics. The numbers before the game between Inter and Napoli today promised richness of goals with an average of 4,3 goals per game during the last meetings. Not today. No goals and split points between Inter and Napoli tonight. Although, I can’t be to upset.
It does feel like it could have gone either way. Inter were a more dominant force during the first half with good quality, especcially from Inter’s midfield where Hernanes and Kovacic looked stunningly good from time to time and a lot of good shots from distance. Something that I’ve been missing during this season (apart from Guarin’s never ending attempts to extinguish the whole art of birds from the surface of the earth), and with just a little nip of luck or a moment of unattention from Jose Reina, and the final result could’ve been different. I could write fifteen pages about Mateo Kovacic, but you already know the deal. There is only so many superlatives that I could use before you all went bored beyond recognition.
Although, I’m not to bummed out by a 0-0 today. Napoli is, despite about my opions about them, a good team that will qualify for the Champions League next season. A draw against these guys is nothing to moan about, instead I’m choosing the reaggae-path and focus on the good things. AC Milan lost agaist Pjanic… sorry, Roma. We drew against Napoli, which puts us six points ahead of Milan ahead of the derby. The place in the Europa League is pretty much a sure thing already and the only things that could screw this all up, would be if Walter Mazzarri went all “Benitez” all over the place.
I want to give a special thumps up for Marco Andreolli who has spent the majority of this season on the bench and now he’s picked to start in the absence of Samuel, Juan and Rolando and he holds up. It’s a clean sheet and there is nothing negative to speak of in that case. It shows a lot of mental professionalism to perform on top even though the previous play-time has been really limited. A lesser player could easily have performed worse only due to not being used to the pace of a real match.
Next week, we’ll take on AC Milan in the derby. A derby that I’m a bit worried about actually. I have the feeling that these sewer-rats will be awfully loaded for this game. However, I will not be the one to not believe in my Inter. So, let’s round up this evening, be happy for what we have, and focus on breaking Milan next week. Forever upward and forward. Forever Inter.
