On September 11, three years ago, Jonathan made his debut in the Italian Serie A, in the game that Inter, coached by Gian Piero Gasperini at the time, lost 4-3 against Palermo. Interviewed in Brazil, the Inter winger remembers that night special: “I remember it will, it doesn’t even seem to have passed three years. It was the first game of the season, but I had already made my debut for Inter in the summer games. We played well, with a good dangerous offensive. It was an exciting match from beginning to end, with seven goals, it was on that evening that I began to understand the competitiveness of Serie A and the quality of its players. It was certainly an amazing date.”
Jonathan also speaks of the idea of wearing the shirt of the Brazilian national team, explaining that, however, the priority is still Inter: “I’m not working towards the national team, I think the national team is a consequence of my work, even though it is obvious that everyone is waiting to have their chance. I’ve played in big clubs in Brazil and won many titles, I played in the national youth team, and now defend the colors of one of the European top clubs. Continuing to work well I think I’ll be called one day or another. I’m happy here in Italy with my family, and I will continue to do my job. If the opportunity comes, it won’t make me run away.”
