Thirteen appearances and 4 goals for Inter’s first team, a Primavera league title in 2011-12 and, a few weeks later, the Next Generation Series: this is the curriculum at Inter of Marko Livaja, the former Inter striker born in 1993, who moved to Rubin Kazan in May. Livaja, a talented striker who at Atalanta also put together 34 appearances and 6 goals, was interviewed exclusively by or partners at FcInterNews.it retracing his seasons in Italy with an ultimate goal: to win over the fans of Rubin.
What has remained with you from your experience at Inter?
“So many good memories. The Scudetto with the Primavera and then the Champions League (Next Generation Series, ed): it’s great to win almost everything! In the first team, I definitely wanted to have more space and perhaps I regret leaving especially in light of the fact that Milito, Palacio and Cassano were injured a few days after my transfer to Atalanta.”
Were you hoping that it would have been different after the victory in the NextGen Series and the debut the following year in Serie A?
“I was hoping to have more space, but it is difficult in Italy for young players. However, there were great strikers in Inter, so it was difficult for a young man like me.”
Are you disappointed by the sale to Atalanta?
“Not at first, because I wanted to play. Later yes, because there wasn’t given much space to a young man like me.”
Why did you choose to go play with Rubin Kazan?
“Three reasons: it is a great challenge, I have a good contract and it is the right club for me.”
What do you think of Mateo Kovacic, who is finally becoming a leader at Inter?
“He’s always been a great player, and will be even greater. When we played together in the Croatian national team, we could find each other with our eyes closed.”
Would you return to Italy in the future?
“Why not? It’s obvious. But for the moment I don’t think so. Now I want to do everything possible to prove to the fans of Rubin that I deserve their shirt. I really want to do well.”
