Nemanja Vidic joined Walter Mazzarri for this afternoon’s press conference at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti ahead of Inter’s UEFA Europa League meeting with Saint-Étienne.
The veteran Serb began by replying to a question about playing in a three-man defence. He explained: “I was asked the same thing when I first came here. I’ve been working hard in training since the day I arrived. It’s not up to me to judge how I’m doing. From my point of view, I have to keep trying to do better and I’ll go on working hard. People are free to comment but I always say that football is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. There’s a long way to go and people can judge at the end.”
The centre-back then discussed the Napoli game: “Yes, in the end we were happy with the draw because we twice fell behind. I think we played very well in the first half and there are lots of positives to take from it. We can do better, but there are lots of positives. Spirits are high.”
When will we see the best Vidic? “I feel good here, I’ve settled in well and I’m training well. When Inter’s performances improve I think my own performances will improve too. I hope to be a part of it all.”
